RAN Online
I played this game back in January when it was licensed under the Malaysian owned e-Games company. I started out as an archer by the name of “Mimimu” at the Phoenix School. Having my new character created, I was in the world of RAN.Online for the first time. No one said “Hello” to me after I appeared. However, 15 minutes of playing I passed by several players who were speaking Malaysian. I started to get worried about the community, having the players talking to me in a language a hardly understand. Some of the players spoke English–Broken English.
In one day, I made it to level 5. Later on that day, I was accompanied by a friend of mine, Telung, whom I met on Ragnarok.Online. With a friend by my side, we explored further into the campus. This is the moment I will never for get. We ran into a guy who wanted to help us get stronger. He was one of those players who spoke broken English. Telung and I agreed with him and we formed a party. We killed and killed enemies for 45 minutes. Everything was going smoothly until we entered a area we have never seen before. As soon as we entered this mysterious area, an enemy we have never seen before ambushed poor Mimimu and Tetsushi (Telung). The guy who was helping us…started speaking the language that I did not understand, Maylaysian! I was confused…Before, he was speaking good enough English to understand what he wanted to do for us. But now…I was very confused. This is where the party ended, and we went on our separate ways.
Telung and I went back to our respawn point. We talked about the guy helping us. We were very confused. So confused, that we decided to quit the game. So we logged off. A few days later, I uninstalled RAN Online from my Hard Drive. Since then, I had never thought about coming back to this game.
Until July 29th, 2006. I found out that the game was brought by another company called “Min.Communications.” This means…No more broken english players, so it seemed. I [re]-downloaded RAN Online, created a player ID (Kuniko) and see what had changed. Right now, there are alot of players as it was when it was under e-Games. Probably because this new version of RAN.Online had just opened service by this new company.
Will RAN.Online be a personal favorite for Kuniki-chan (The author of this blog)? Stay tuned…
