[Video] Cursors Found in the ‘SquareEnix’ Folder

Feb 2nd, 2008 | By Sanjo-chan | Category: Videos

While I was browsing around for unnecessary files on my 88% full hard drive on my Desktop using WinDirStat, I found the ‘SquareEnix’ folder was still there, though I uninstalled it back in the Spring, since it was decided that I wasn’t going to play it anymore since WoW is the frequently used MMORPG on my computer. It’s taking up 500 MB…I need as much space as possible. I want to delete this folder…but, wait. What’s in it? It’s mouse cursors used in Final Fantasy XI! I can’t let this go to waste…so what do I do with them? Use them! This is a nice little present for three years of being a loyal player…

Get the Flash Player to see the wordTube Media Player.

For those who can’t see the video for some reason, here’s what I did:

  1. Navigate to the PlayOnline folder (C:\Program Files\PlayOnline\SquareEnix).
  2. We’re going to use the cursor, “mousecur.ani” for the defualt cursor.
  3. Go to the Control Panel under Start Menu -> Control Panel -> Mouse (Under the “Classic” view in Windows XP).
  4. Select the “Pointers” tab.
  5. Navigate back to the location of the cursor (I copied and pasted the URL in this case (C:\Program Files\PlayOnline\SquareEnix) into the address bar).
  6. Select “mousecur.ani”.
  7. Click “Apply”.
  8. w00t! Now we have a cursor!

Notes:

  • “やった!” Means “I/We did it!” in Japanese.
  • I misspelled “earlier” around when I selected the cursor to use. Gomen. -_-
