Portable Ops Plus is Minus

Yes…this is a rant on the recently released Metal Gear Solid title for the PSP, “Portable Ops Plus“–and I haven’t play the game! I’m ranting about it because I’m sick of seeing it everywhere I went to find the first Portable Ops. I’ve been looking for Portable Ops since Friday, and on Sunday, after looking all over the accessible parts of Chattanooga, I am unable to locate it. However, I happened to find a couple of used copies of Metal Gear Acid 1 & 2. Honestly, Portable Ops Plus belongs with Acid–in the bargin bin.

Portable Ops Plus is a standalone of the multi-player feature in Portable Ops: you could say it’s a portable version of the upcoming Metal Gear Online, in conjunction with the release of Metal Gear Solid 4 for the PS3 in June. I probably would have purchased it if I had brought Portable Ops earlier. It could have the potential to be fun if there were more extras–like Portable Ops. Plus, I’m not a big fan of MMOFPS (Massive Multi-player Online First Person Shooters), thanks to the players who plague the servers, including young Xbox Live dwellers who breaks vacuum cleaners. Portable Ops Plus is in the family of “filler” titles in the Metal Gear Solid series: After the first Metal Gear Solid for the PSOne, “VR Missions” followed. After “Sons of Liberty”, “Substance”. Finally, after “Snake Eater”, “Subsistence”.

Maybe “Guns of the Patriots” will get a “Sub” title if MGO doesn’t work out or when Konami decides to milk the franchise [again], especially since MGS4 may be the last we will see of Solid Snake…

  1. Not very much different from MPO, other than some new characters like Old Snake and also some new weapons. But to finish a mission, is too long and a bit annoying. It will load from the start if you try to reload it back and the worst part, no Metal Gear :)
