Anime Expo 2008 is now over. I wish I could have gone there myself, but it’s on the other side of the country, and seeing that the cost to get there exceeds my budget. Plus, I would have probably tire out sooner since it’s 4 days long, and at a new location…
- The attendance numbers for AX 2008–not to mention the new location at the Los Angeles Convention Center– reaches approximately 43,000. I wonder how were the registration lines this year?…
- FUNimation was the star of AX 08 with tons of good news, ranging from the finalized cast for the upcoming Ouran High Host Club, the acquisition of old Geneon titles (’bout time!), the acquisition of ADV titles, and more licenses, including further information of the recently licensed Big Windup baseball anime (originally announced in June). FUNimation is on a roll, and in times like these.
- Bandai also has some information of the upcoming English dub cast of Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann that was rescued from ADV before the first volume was released. Plus, Gundam fans will get to see Mobile Suit Gundam 00 on the SciFi channel this fall, starting on November 17th.
- Sort of related to AX: Animation Studio BONES (Fullmetal Alchemist, Cowboy Bebop) leaked information of possibilties of second seasons of Fullmetal Alchemist and Darker than BLACK. Masahiko Minami, president of BONES, confronted the rumors stating that the continuation of both series are not in the works–but they are thinking about it. Keep your fingers crossed for season two of Hagaren!
- The Los Angeles Times has a brief article on this years Expo, along with a photo gallery of cosplayers. Is your cosplay in the gallery?
Anime Expo seems like a lot of fun than the other conventions. Maybe I’ll go to AX next year. Although, looking at the crowd from the pictures and videos makes you exhausted while sitting at your computer!
