Second Quarter 2008 Statistics Report

Jul 10th, 2008 | By Sanjo-chan | Category: Site Updates

It’s time for another statistics report for the Second Quarter of 2008. Things have improved since the First Quarter report in March, and new findings that could improve the way the blog is being read.

The Numbers

From April 1st-June 30th

The News

Pretty good for 3 months. Project Wonderful is doing great, but I have ceased campaigns for the time being until revenue from PJ picks up a bit, with additional ad units. At the time of writing, the minimum bid to advertise on the 125×125 spaces are $.01 (originally it was $.02). The price will stay like this until further notice. Private advertising is doing good as well, with BaseGuardian of the Super Heroes Base as the first customer using Entrecard credits! ^_^

A couple of months ago, I put up a few ad units from AdToll, such as the Peel Away Ads, and the 468×80 ads (now replaced by Project Wonderful ads). It turns out that AdToll’s doesn’t work very well for “smaller” websites. The service seems to serve small commercial websites, with a few popular blogs that have been around for a couple of years. AdToll will stay for a couple more months, unless it improves. I’m also trying out different widget, plugins, and other blogging services to replace what’s already available on the plug.

The Posts

Top 5 Popular Posts of June

The Sources

The traffic sources has been the same, but with slight improvements, mostly in part of switching webhosts from GoDaddy to HostGator last month.

Top 5 Traffic Sources

  1. Google: 3,146
  2. PowerDropping: 616
  3. Entrecard: 482 (746) visits
  4. Yahoo!: 304 visits
  5. StumbleUpon: 195 visits

The Social Networks

I’ve established a small presence on popular social networking sites, such as Twitter, FriendFeed, StumbleUpon, Digg, and MySpace (approval required). Feel free to add me to your social network account. Digg is the latest addition to my collection of social network profiles after a long debate on whether a presence of myself and the blog is healthy for Digg.

The Thanks

The blog is turning a year old soon, and a few thanks are in order. The people I’m about to mention have helped by leaving comments and bought the blog out into the open since its start in 2007. To the people I didn’t mention for have forgotten about, you’re not excluded!

In no particular order:

Thanks again to everyone. Here’s to year two!

  1. Good to see your stats climbing as well! Yea, I really wasn’t too impressed with Adtoll when I tried them out. It’s good to see you going after the social networks as well.

I whole-heartedly advocate making a presence there because many people at Myspace, Facebook, etc don’t have a clue about blogs, so you kinda have to help guide them to your content.

Thats what I’m working on now actually. I’m curious as to how much traffic you are seeing from BlogUpp! Just saw it on your sidebar, and I’m curious.

Hope the next quarter is even better!

  3. Hey, you’re doing pretty good my friend! Sorry I haven’t been commenting lately. :( I’ve really slacked off on commenting and visiting my favorite blogs.

  4. Congrats on the traffic and thanks for the mention. Like Joana, I haven’t been commenting in most of my favorite blogs lately.

Well done and let’s hope the next quarter is more fruitful ^_^

  5. happy to be mentioned.

You have a great site going here. Those are some very good traffic stats.

Keep up the god work. I’ll do my best to swing by more often!

  6. @ xorsyst: The traffic from BlogUpp is preforming just like BlogRush… but better. So far I’ve gotten 7 referrals from the widget, whereas BlogRush, I would get 2 referrals a month. I’ve also thought about making a MySpace page for the blog instead of using my personal profile. I’ve read about the benefits of having a page for a blog. :)

@ Deimos, Joana, Apple and Jamaipanese: You’re free to drop by anytime. ^_^

  7. Thanks for mentioning me,
(even though I only played a small part),
    keep on blogging bro :)

  8. Yea, I have had good results from my MySpace profile. With the addition of MySpace apps, I can now have a rss reader pull in my posts and have it on MySpace.

One of the reasons why I wanted a MySpace page for my blog is that I wanted to connect with the local scene a bit more, awesome results.

  9. Hi there, thanks for posting interested post. As far for my experience, the most reliable web hosting is Hostgator.. Even thought I like others hosting too, but Hostgator still in the top of my list for quality and stable hosting.
