Atlanta Supercon

There’s a new fandom convention coming to the ATL, called Atlanta Supercon. This convention is dedicated to SciFi, Super Heroes, and especially Anime! I’ve found out about this new convention a while back on The Anime Blog’s convention list for September-October, searching in hopes of finding the closest year-end convention after missing out on Atlanta’s last anime con of the season.

The convention will be held in November on the weekend of the 21st, which isn’t very far away from Thanksgiving! There are many industry guests announced for the con, not limited to American Comic and SciFi series. US Anime industry guests include voice actor Spike Spencer (Neon Genesis Evangelion), and Non-anime industry guests such as the cast of Aqua Teen Hunger Force. While multifandom conventions seem really fun, especially for my brother who is into only SciFi, and a handful of Anime shows, I actually would feel uncomfortable being at one. I love Non-Japanese Comics and Science Fiction, but Anime is my forte, and I would rather have it all in one place. Also, the fact of seeing Jedi and Soul Reapers (or Shinigami) in one place scares me.

This isn’t the only Supercon in the South. The convention got its start in Florida in 2006, and will have their 4th annual convention in June 2009. There’s even has an Anime Supercon which will be held October 31st-November 2nd! Looks like it’s turning out to be the next Comic Con for Southern Otaku and Geeks. Perhaps I’ll check it out if I have nothing planned that weekend.
