Cowboy Bebop: Best Sessions (DVD) [Review]

Cowboy Bebop: Best Sessions (DVD)

The Cowboy Bebop: Best Sessions DVD is a good for those who are looking for bits and pieces of Bebop for those who couldn’t afford the Perfect Sessions back in the day.

The Best Sessions DVD are for hardcore fans of Bebop. The set contains 6 select episodes chosen by fans and Cowboy Bebop creator, Shinichiro Watanabe (Samurai Champloo). The six episodes on two DVDs happens to be the best episodes in the series, and are also key episodes to the Bebop storyline. The episodes on the first disc, Director’s Choice are: “Asteroid Blues” (Episode #1), “Ballard of Fallen Angels” (Episode #5), “Wild Horses” (Episode #19). And on the second disc, Fan Favorites: “Waltz for Venus” (Episode #8), “Mushroom Samba” (Episode #17), and “Hard Luck Woman” (Episode #24).

When this was released, it was quite expensive for only 6 episodes. But, when I purchased this, it was only $16 at a Wal-Mart. That was back in 2003… Fast forward to 2008 (at the time of writing this, can you believe Cowboy Bebop is 10 years old?!), and you will be able to find the Cowboy Bebop Remix: Anime Legends collection with all 26 episodes for a reasonable price. But if you’re a hardcore Bebop fan, Best Sessions is still available for purchase from many online retailers.

In the end, The Best Session isn’t really worth it, but I couldn’t pass up the deal of having the best episodes for a really cheap price, and Cowboy Bebop is the greatest anime ever created. I don’t have the complete collection yet myself, but this really comes in handy on rainy days. ;)

Rating:

★★★½☆
