Linda, Linda, Linda [Preview]

This is one of those films that draws in the kind of people who are not interested in watching in a film about a Indie all-girl rock band from Japan. No, it’s not about Oreskaband, but “Linda, Linda, Linda” appears to inspire the early beginnings on Oreskaband, and maybe another rising indie band.

Linda, Linda, Linda R1 DVD Cover

Linda, Linda, Linda is a 2005 movie about 3 girls who start a High School rock band, but they need a vocalist. With less than a week remaining until the school’s Music Festival, they seek out a their 4th member: a transfer student from South Korea (Bae Doo-na from Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance) who has a bit of trouble speaking Japanese.

The movie follows the trails and tribulation of an indie rock band. It could be compared to another movie based on an indie band--made an America, but Japanese movies of this caliber (Linda, Linda, Linda won rave reviews from many film festivals around the world) can’t (and shouldn’t) be copied anywhere else.

The soundtrack comes along with the help of former Smashing Pumpkins Guitarist, James Iha, and the legendary Ramones. And that’s not all: the R1 DVD version of the movie comes with commentary from American Otaku enthusiast, Patrick Marcias; (another plus personally, being a Marcias fan).
