New Gundam Series: Gundam Unicorn

After long speculations on whether there will be a new Gundam series airing after the finale of Gundam 00 S2, it’s going to happen. Gundam Unicorn, which is also based on the novel of the same name, is set to scheduled to air during the Winter ‘09/’10 Season.

The story of Unicorn takes place in the Universal Century, a few years after the end of the movie Char’s Counterattack in UC 0096. The main character, Banagher Links, is placed under custody under his father after the death of his mother–that Banagher doesn’t know about. Living on the space colony of Industrial 7, he’s a student of the Anaheim Electronics Technical School and he eventually befriends a mysterious girl by the name of Audrey Burne and later find themselves involved in “Laplace’s Box”.

This has got to be one of the most anticipated Gundam series in a long time, most importantly taking place during the Universal Century. (I wonder if we’ll be seeing a few cameo appearances from veterans of the One Year War…). Not to mention a possible revival of UC Gundam series outside Japan once it’s licensed.
