Newbie Anime Sketches
When you become an Otaku, you’re obliged to draw at least one sketch of your favorite Anime character. Maybe even come up with your own web comic, like Fred Gallagher’s MegaTokyo. I’m no where near where he is now… let’s say I’m still at the beginners level…
I’ve been drawing here and there for a few years after finding “You Can Draw Manga” on clearance at a Waldenbooks before it closed. Thanks to the book, I’ve mastered drawing hair, face and eyes. But it will be a while before I get the hang of drawing arms, hands and feet.
I recently showed off select sketches that were decent enough I drew dating back to 2006, and another one I drew recently to show off at the Boogie BAM Anime Jam Club (Chattanooga’s Anime & Manga Club).

Sketch #1: I drew this one in 2006. It was supposed to be an original character, but it turned out to look like Vash from Trigun.

Sketch #2: Here’s an real original from 2008. It’s supposed to look like me; a few people said it actually looked a lot like another member of BBAMAJAM.

Sketch #3: Guess who this character is from? Inspired by a video tutorial on how to draw Naruto from IDrawGirls.

Sketch #4: This is a recent one I drew for BBAMAJAM. It’s supposed to myself again. But upon further inspection, she looks like Fayth from the game, Mirror’s Edge… Just need to add the tattoo to her face.
I hope to be as good as Hao of Instant Ramen someday, but I don’t plan to give up blogging over writing manga. It’s a good cross promotional tool, though. For starters: coming up with an original mascot for CTM. ^_^

The only time I tried drawing my favorite character was when I first started watching anime. I drew Ryaa of Akazukin Cha-Cha and it was pretty decent, looked like the character itself, IMO.
Too bad I lost the drawing lol~

Thanks ^^!
Vash-esque drawing looking great, you should keep on drawing and drawing and you’ll see how quickly you’ll improve! (reminds me I haven’t finished watching Trigun)
Ganbare~!!
