FMA: Brotherhood OST Wishlist (Redux)

A few months ago, I wrote an article on the now Anime defunct NinjaTofu about my wishes and predictions for the new Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood series. At the time, a lot of people (including myself) didn’t know that Yui and Sid was going to preform; when it aired, we heard “Again” by Yui for the Opening, and Sid’s “Lie” (嘘 / Uso) for the Ending.
Now that NinjaTofu is no longer an Anime blog, the article is gone. But there’s good news: the article lives on my hard drive! The original post will be inserted below. This is one of my second good articles that I’ve republished. The first one was originally on the NA.KI.ME blog and is also about Fullmetal Alchemist—the manga, that is, and how good it was along with the ridiculousness of waiting for the next volume…
Which artist(s) would have been good for the Brotherhood soundtrack?
With less than 2 weeks away until the long awaited premiere of the second Fullmetal Alchemist series, there’s little time left to discuss which J-Music artists will be covering the soundtrack. There is word going around that the band Sid has the first ED theme slot with “Lies”, but let’s go back; the first Hagaren soundtrack featured a lot of amazing artists from Porno Graffiti, Asian Kung-Fu Generation, Nana Kitade, and let’s not forget, L’arc~En~Ciel. I would definitely like to see L’arc return with more Hagaren-oriented tracks. However, I really would like to see some artists that didn’t get a chance to lend tracks for the first series.
T.M. Revolution
T.M. Revolution is a good artist for the Second OP. Takanori Nishikawa preformed the third ending theme “Heart of Sword” for Rurouni Kenshin in 1996. 13 years later, he provided songs for Mobile Suit Gundam Seed and Soul Eater. Why not for FMA while he is in an Anime theme music mood? His style of music is very close to that of Porno Graffiti, so I think it would fit right for initial episodes until the next OP.
FLOW
Next is FLOW. They did songs for Eureka 7 (“DAYS”) and Code Geass (“COLORS”). I think Hagaren is an excellent choice for their next Anime theme track. The aforementioned songs fits the those series perfectly, and a song from FLOW will set the mood depending on the outcome of the story.

Remioromen
Finally, there’s one more artist that should be considered: Remioromen. Although I think the group fits where they are now (in the mainstream Japanese category and not for Anime OPs and EDs), but listen to some of their songs, and it could be worthy of becoming a theme song for an Anime series. Well…at least for an ED theme. Also, preforming a song would also mark their comeback since 2007. I mean, FLOW came back and changed their attitude after “GO!!!” from Naruto…
Conclusion
I will admit this “wishlist” isn’t impressive, but it’s just the start of what the series could bring rather than recycling the artists from the first series, [with a certain exception]. Fullmetal Alchemist this time around will be filled with a darker theme than the first series. There are newer artists out there that would make the series just as good as it was before, and if all else fails, L’arc will come to the rescue (alright, they may not come back right away, but I’m sure they will return for an FMA song eventually).
