WordPress 2.8.4 (and a few theme glitches)

2009-08-15_00001

The blog was recently updated to WordPress 2.8.4—the first update since the upgrade to 2.7. Upon the RC (Release Candidate) Release of 2.8, the Sherbet News theme was tested on a local server to make sure everything was in working order… It appears that I was wrong.

Right now, a few things are broken, such as the post preview on the front, search, and category pages. The problem is currently under investigation. The problem of missing post thumbnails is also being looked at… which was broken to begin with when the theme was launched. ^^;

For WordPress(.org) users: If you haven’t upgrade to WP 2.8.4, it fixes a security problem with “special” URLs that a hacker can use to send a password reset request to the Administrator. More and the download link (or upgrade from the Dashboard) at the WordPress Blog. 2.9 is getting closer.

  1. Still at 2.7.1, I will probably wait until 2.9. Glad I did not update to 2.8, up to 4 different patches just to update a few things because the developers missed loopholes. I call lulz.

  2. The 2.8.4 update broke my theme. After contacting my hosting company, Bluehost, they told me they’d received several calls about themes breaking with this upgrade. I had to revert back to 2.8.3, unfortunately I’m now vulernable. Hope they fix the update soon.
