The Anime Con Waiting Game

Anime Weekend Atlanta is officially less than 2 weeks away. That’s plenty of time to go over what I’ve packed already (and yes, I started packing a few weeks ago).

I’ve have my camera for plenty of pictures to feed the gallery, my laptop, costume, PSP, and chargers. I am also making sure I bring a few manga: Fullmetal Alchemist 17 and 18, MegaTokyo 5, and Genshiken 7 and 8) to catch up on kill the time, especially for a sleepless night. Even if I have everything ready, I can’t help but hype over it.

(Most Importantly: Be sure to bring some hand sanitizer or wet wipes to defend against the Con crud-especially the H1N1/Swine Flu virus!)

Hyping over an Anime convention is normal. But I’m starting to get a little annoyed by it. That’s finding myself visiting the AWA forums every 20 minutes over 2 hours, browsing the forums and photos at Cosplay.com, and just thinking about conventions in general, even if it’s watching an episode/reading a chapter of Genshiken gets me too excited. But then there’s the obligatory thread on the forums, which shares a few of my frustrations. ^^;

With this being my first AWA, getting ready for it is a little special since this will be the first big convention I’ve attended since Anime Central in ‘04, ‘05, and ‘06, respectfully. And it’s the first convention attended since JAMPcon in early Spring ‘08.

This Saturday is the second Cosplay Contest at Books-a-Million, which will break my excitement meter. After that leaves less than a week remaining. I also have a lot of Anime to catch up on, from Bleach to ZZ Gundam.

What have you done to keep calm when waiting for an Anime event/convention?
