The CEN.TAKU.ME Journal #1

It’s about time I tried another feature for the blog, called “The CEN.TAKU.ME Journal”. It’s simply a recollection of what I’ve been doing lately in the world of being an Otaku (and to put some use into this blog!). This is especially an opportunity to connect with my readers of what what’s going on for the past month with the lack of posts (aside posting about Gundam and Final Fantasy XIII on Twitter…
(Apologizes are in order if this post happens to rip off Zippy’s Lately posts on the BBAMAJAM blog.

- Conventions
- Anime
- Final Fantasy XIII

The convention season is about to start very soon! The first Anime convention in the area is the 7th annual Momocon in Atlanta, GA. This year was hard to get into: I don’t mean the trip down there… as it is a free convention, there is an attendance cap of 7,000. The free tickets have officially ran out, with a little left at the door. At the last minute, I have decided to bail out of this trip in (hopefully) preparation for the Middle Tennessee Anime Convention next month.
Last month, I got a head start attending conventions for the year by going to the third annual Connooga in Chattanooga, TN. After a couple of years contemplating, I finally got over my phobia of seeing Oozaru and Ewoks in the same room together.

If you’ve been following me on Twitter, I couldn’t help but tweet about the arrival of the original Mobile Suit Gundam series on Crunchyroll and YouTube (viewing limited to certain countries). Not just the original, but Gundam as a whole–especially with Gundam Unicorn recently released on Blu-ray.
Another classic Anime I can’t help but express my love for is Dragonball Z. I (finally) purchased the first Dragon Box set that FUNimation released in November. The second one is already out, and the third one is due out in May. If only I had a better job, I would get the the Dragon Boxes and go to conventions without putting a burden on my wallet…

It’s been nearly two weeks since Final Fantasy XIII came out. Now us Westerners can get a piece of the action! But for some countries, many choose the buy the Xbox 360 version of the game. But as a Playstation purist, I got the PS3 version. I’m already on Chapter 9 as of writing, and the story is really exciting! But I’ll save that for my review of FFXIII. The only complaint I have is the confusion involving Pulse and Pulse L’Cie. Maybe I should just read the Datalog.
Also, reading around a few fan communities (or from The Cay of Tokyo Tower FM), I heard the 360 version has a few second delay in loading, whereas the PS3 version is just fine…

The PS3 version looks amazing in HD. I heard the 360 version lacks the impact visually that the PS3 version brings to the table. I am really just getting started in FFXIII, but so far I’m enjoying it a lot
