Are Free MMORPGs Better Than Pay-to-Play?

Here’s another question in the new “Community Questions” series. This time, it’s about whether or not free online games are better than P2P counterparts. Despite the popularity of well known P2P games, there are many of free MMO games, such as Maple Story and Mabinogi. Many of them are good, many of them are bad; and it’s not just about the features or the graphics. No matter how great the game is, there’s bound to be trouble with fellow players. On the other hand, paid MMO gamers are better tamed and a bit forgiving than the people who play free MMOs.

So, the question is: Are Free MMORPGs Better than Pay-to-Play?

Are Free MMORPGs Better Than Pay-to-Play?

  • No. Many free MMOs are buggy and have terrible customer service (i.e.: GMs) (50%, 4 Votes)
  • Of course! They are much more affordable than P2P (38%, 3 Votes)
  • I enjoy them on occasions (12%, 1 Votes)

  • Ragnarok Online’s premium server is pay to play and are worse than most free to play servers when it comes to customer service and issue of lag. It gets so bad that often a player is bound to get a message telling the player there is time gap between you and the server. If not something with in that nature. GMs don’t do a got damn thing and the customer service LMFAO terrible you call, they put you on hold for two hours right before hanging up on the person.

  • @Beebee: Your comment hits the nail right on the head; Take a look at my experience with Metal Gear Online.

Ragnarok Online in general is worse than any game out there, IMO. Many months later after I wrote this post, I came upon the fact that games that apparently took a lot of money to make still doesn’t cater to many “hardcore” players and attracts the people who can’t afford high-end computers themselves:roll:
