CEN.TAKU.ME Cosplay Corner [Issue #3]

The Chattanooga Gotei 13!
The Bleach Cosplay Group at JAMPcon 2008

It’s time for another Cosplay Corner…In this issue, I am getting a costume ready for another convention that I may get to attend in September. At the time of writing, I could be in the car on the way to the Middle Tennessee Anime Convention in Nashville, TN, but unfortunately I cannot make it this year. I knew this was coming before I went to JAMPcon; funds would have been difficult to recover and the easiest mode of transportation would be inaccessible due to the current situation in my family. I do have little money to spend on anime merchandise, but not enough for a few nights at the hotel. I am taking the time to save up for Anime Weekend Atlanta in September. The possibility of going to AWA this year is at 65%, and the possibility of finishing my next costume is at 50%.

Enough about my troubles, on to the cosplay choices for AWA!

The next character I would like to attempt at cosplaying as is Toshirou Hitsugaya of the anime series, Bleach! Originally, I had no interest in cosplaying as Toshirou, but I made an exception this time around. I wanted another shot of going as Rukia at AWA…though Rukia is the first cosplay I’ve done this year, I thought I went with something different. I have yet to start on the costume, but I don’t know if I will ever start on it. Instead, there is always an option of purchasing another Shinigami uniform with the Squad 10 crest. I really, really want to make my own costume, or at least a part of a costume that takes a bit of effort to make, but time is my biggest enemy…

My plan on making the coat that goes over the Shinigami outfit is to find a pattern of a coat or a robe that looks similar and modify it. For the Squad 10 crest: find a print out and sew/iron it on the back of the finished costume. It should be a piece of cake since I have some sewing experience–that hasn’t been touched in 5 years. D;

I already know of where to find iron-on patterns of various symbols used in anime series, such as Naruto: Janchan.com. I have had this website bookmarked for a few years and now I want to share it everyone else who needs it. The site also has scans from anime artbooks for references. This site is going to come in handy when I start working on my Hitsugaya costume! ^_^

Again, I have yet to start working on the costume. If I ever start on it, I will definitely post pictures, and maybe share some of my finished work on Cosplay.com. I do have a Cosplay.com account, but there’s not much on there but a picture of my semi-completed Kakashi cosplay and Rukia cosplay from JAMPcon. I haven’t had time to upload my JAMPcon photos, and hopefully they will be on there soon when I’m free.
