Gundam vs. Macross

2009-04-17_00001

Watching almost every Gundam series for 8 years, you’d think I would be talking about some Macross / Robotech (in the US) right about now. Well, that’s true: this is the first post on the blog that has something about Macross. The sad part about this is the fact I have not watched any Macross anime, except for Macross Plus back in 2000 after discovering it on Encore‘s Action network.

What’s different between Macross and Gundam is that the Mobile Units are different: Gundams are giant robots, and the Macross machines are crossed over Mobile Suits and Aircrafts; A plane that transforms into a mobile weapon upon landing; I guess that’s the cool thing about Macross…

I couldn’t stand it at first, but I was told from a few fanboys that Macross was inspired by Gundam. That’s true… But I didn’t care what they said… I still couldn’t get into it like back in the day (before I was born, mind you) when 10,000+ fans gathered for a Robotech convention (from the Otaku Unite! Documentary).

Even today, I don’t think I will see myself watching another Macross series–but I do want to watch it just for the sake of listening to the updated English dub, featuring Vic Mignogna:roll:
