Kyoshiro and Yuya arrive in a village who are afraid of visitors in the wake of the reemergence of Demon Eyes Kyo. Along the way, they meet Benitora, a recent recruit of the Sansaishuu clan. He reminds me of the tall haired guy from Ruroni Kenshin. Not Sanosuke–but that guy that Sanosuke called a Chicken (somewhere in the middle if the series). After hearing word of strangers in town, the villagers–including Shiro, a bad guy/demon (who looks like an evil, adult version of Toshiro from Bleach)–surround the shrine…

Speaking of Ruroni Kenshin, this show reminds me of it. Wow..I really need to finish Rurouni Kenshin. Why didn’t Cartoon Network air it again, especially since my VCR at the time bailed out on me?! There’s always DVD, if I can afford the remaining boxsets. Back to SDK…this is another interesting series. It’s no Rurouni Kenshin, but hopefully the remainder of the series can get me fired up to buy Rurouni Kenshin.

  • ^^; Well, since the manga for Samurai Deeper Kyo was first run back in 1999 and Bleach didn’t run until 2001, I think it’s safe to say that Toushiro actually looks like a cute and miniature version of Shiro.

I have the entire series of SDK on dvd and the first 5 or so volumes of the manga. It’s a very enjoyable series, the animation is good, and the fight scenes are definately well done. Not to mention the soundtrack is also awesome. But for the most part, they seem to spend the majority of the series wandering around looking for Kyo’s body. And then the last few episodes everything gets explained and slammed together. While the conclusion of the series wasn’t bad, it felt rushed.

btw, I’m going to have to do a post on SDK now. XD
