Anime Fans with Low Budgets
If you find something you like, such as an anime DVD or manga, think about it before buying, whether you plan on buying it. And if people look at you funny if you don’t buy it because it costs too much, then it’s their loss.
As an anime freak for 8 years, my collection is at least worth $3,000 or more. Most of it are manga. For the last month, I’ve been buying anime DVDs on impulse. I now have in my collection are “Full Metal Panic”, “Big O (Season 1)”, “Tenchi Universe” and “Tenchi in Tokyo”. The best buys ever! I decided to take this time to buy anime series that have come and gone on Adult Swim and Toonami since I’m suffering from manga readers block and difficulty finding a recently released copy of Yotsuba& and MegaTokyo.
At an anime convention four years ago, I found a Cowboy Bebop T-Shirt for $20. That was a bit high in my opinion. After the convention, I discussed my experience of my first convention on their forums, including a little comment on the “overpriced” t-shirt. One person replied stating that $20 is a good price for an item such as this. Paying $14 or $15 for is like buying from a second hand store [and not brand new; not "bootleg quality"]. Well, good for him that he is willing to pay high for a piece of paraphernalia of the most talked about anime during that time.
That was four years ago. Also being my first anime con, I got a taste of what it’s like seeing something you want, then find out that you don’t have enough money to get back home after buying that one $50 doujinshi…If I had the cash, like a set budget of $500, I would had definitely brought it right then. However, I did find it online for…$15.99, and from a trusted store too!
