It’s time for another Quick Links post! Many things have happened over the weekend. Instead of posting every single news item with little text, let’s post them all at once, CEN.TAKU.ME no Jutsu!
Anime News
- For those who are waiting for R1 DVD releases of Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann will have to get them from Bandai Entertainment. The announcement was made at New York Comic Con. Yes, folks…The Most Anticipated Anime in the US of 2008 has been relicensed by Bandai nearly a year after ADV acquired the rights for North American distribution. The reason is unknown as to why ADV suddenly gave up the license. This comes after ADV temporarily pulled some of their upcoming titles from their catalog back in January. Will ADV films suffer the same fate as Geneon? We hope not.
- Mobile Suit Gundam 00 is in place for a North American release from Bandai Entertainment! This could mean that will could see it on Adult Swim in the future. I wonder how will Gundam 00 will fare on TV after the drop in popularity since the airing of Gundam Seed?
- Dragonball and Speed Racer are getting Live Action movie makeovers. Ghost in the Shell is getting one as well. Steven Spielberg is interested in directing a 3D Live Action version of the 1995 feature length anime, Ghost in the Shell. This may turn out better than the Dragonball movie, since there are no characters with exclusive features…
Gaming News
- An Xbox 360 literally overheats when an owner’s home suffers fire damage. The power supply is to blame for the fire, but could it have something to do with the Red Ring of Death? Hmm…
- A pre-paid card for the PlayStation 3 Network will be available for purchase at a drug store near you! With these cards, you can buy anything from the Playstation store without providing your credit card information! Maybe I’ll get one so I can buy a PSOne game for my PSP.
- MMO Blog Massively has an article on elitest raid leaders. Incidentally, I’ve been having recurring thoughts of a terrible guild I was in with a guy who sounds almost like the infamous 50 DKP Minus guy before I transfered over to WildHammer.

Woohoo! I am so glad Gundam 00 is going to get an NA release. ^_^ I can’t wait! Hell, I can’t wait for it to be available on dvd. I firmly believe that Spielberg will be fully able to do justice to a live action version of GITS and sincerely hopes that he does it.
It’s weird though to hear about someone like Spielberg wanting to direct a live action for an anime. Ten years ago, if you had asked me if I thought this was possible I would have said “sure, when pigs fly”. It’s nice to see anime more main stream and available to the fans now.
