My apologizes for being behind on updates. I’ve been quite busy with World of Warcraft and fulfilling my offline duties. It’s June now, so that means that new Anime and Gaming opportunities are sprouting just in time for the summer. Let’s see what’s going on!
Anime & Manga News
- Bleach Manga-ka (Manga creator) Tite Kubo will be at San Diego Comic-Con this year. He will be signing Autographs, but will only be limited to 100 people, so get there early! The English dub of the first Bleach movie, “The Memories of Nobody”, will be screened at Comic-Con as well. 2008 is turning out to be a great year for American Bleach fans! Too bad Comic-Con is on the other side of the country.
- ORESKABAND, an all-female ska band known for the Bleach ending song, “20 Tips”, will preform at Wizard World Chicago on June 27th. This is the group’s second US convention performance, with the first at Anime Expo in 2007. I plan to go to Chicago this summer, but I don’t think Wizard World won’t be on my itinerary…
- The 2007 hit anime series Gurren Lagann will be getting some airtime on the SciFi channel! The series is set to air in late July, and will run through October. It seems that the show will run under the Ani-Midnight block. By the way, the series is now being handled by Bandai Entertainment. Previously, ADV had the rights to the series, but Bandai saved it after the sudden disappearance from ADV’s website back earlier this year. Well, now I’ll be able to see what this show is about — and on TV!
Gaming News
- With less than 5 days away until the release of Metal Gear Solid 4, Solid Snake sneaks out onto the streets of Shibuya, embracing the buildings, and the local transit system. The only thing closer to this for us Americans are the posters in GameStop.
- A World of Warcraft player was arrested for kidnapping after running away all the way from Idaho to Washington, with a 14 year old player who he met playing WoW. The funny thing about this is the suspect had the license plate with the word “OMGROFL”.
