Ragnarok Online 2: When the Heck is it Coming Out?

01-08-2008_00001.jpg

It’s been close to four years since Gravity Entertainment announced the sequel to Ragnarok Online: The Gate of the World. That gate has been closed to everybody, but in Korea, the home of Gravity. Korea had its closed beta sometime ago, and there is no word yet of it being released in other countries, such as US/UK (International), The Philippines, Japan and South Korea. However, now that it’s 2008, we should be hearing word of a launch date (keep your fingers cross!).

RO2 is a huge improvement to the first Ragnarok Online, and with Yoko Kanno of Cowboy Bebop fame providing the music score, this is sure to be the next hit MMORPG, at least among fans of anime. There are many changes since its first announcement in 2004. New races: Norman, Ellr, and Dimago, as well as new classes: Clown, Enchanter and Recruit. Recently, an online Korean gaming magazine, “This is Game” voted Ragnarok Online 2, “The Worse Game of 2007″. I have little knowledge of Hangul, so I don’t know why it received an ill-fated vote. It’s possibly because it has been in beta for too long, and perhaps that the popularity of Ragnarok Online is finally fading. Untill then, this gameplay video is the only thing we get to see of Ragnarok Online 2.

  • When the heck is Ragnarok II coming out?! It’s been 5 years now! Ragnarok I is dead but Ragnarok 2 looks awesome, seriously, who would not want to play Ragnarok in 3D?
