This is the first Naruto game for the Playstation 3 from Namco Bandai Games, “Ultimate Ninja STORM”. Many people are thinking that this is a screenshot taken from the anime. If the screenshots don’t have you convinced, check out the trailer. After watching this, you will want to buy it! The graphics are better than Dragonball Z: Burst Limit. Personally, I think the graphics of both games are great and they mark the beginning of the explosion of Anime Video Games for the Playstation 3 (I haven’t forgotten about you, Nintendo and Microsoft!). The official website for Ultimate Ninja Storm has a countdown page that opens 8 hours from now (on April 16th, 2008). I wonder what could it be for? What do you think guys think of the game? ^_^
Wow…this game has been in “development” for a decade! What are they waiting for?! We have three powerful game consoles that are pwning the competition, and the developers don’t seem to be getting off their rears to finish it and put it on store shelfs. The game I’m talking about is Duke Nukem. Ironically, “Forever” is the title for the next DN game in the series. A newspaper in Dallas reported that it’s set for a release later this year. NOT! George Broussard, the President of 3D Realms gave the “when it’s done” attitude for Duke Nukem Forever. If it doesn’t get released this year, it looks like we’ll have to wait forever…again. I personally have not played a Duke Nukem game. I do remember the reputation is received for being one of the most controversial video games, next to Mortal Kombat. If [it ever] gets a decent release, I may pick it up..
A recent story on Siliconera, via Kotaku, caught my attention on the level of popularity that Mario Kart DS is getting in South Korea. How big is it? It’s “Starcraft” popular. That’s right–Mario Kart gets the progamer treatment, and is now the next big thing in the Korean progaming circuit. This game hasn’t even been out for a full year! South Korea is the mecca of competitive gaming. Just about every game with the proper multi-player settings, turns into a huge success. I am very fascinated by these turn of events. After watching several Starcraft competitions on YouTube, and a couple of mashups, that I mark Korea the next country to visit when I get the chance to go overseas! Korea + one country devoted to gaming + Japan + one country devoted to anime = a very exhausted fangirl. :3
Just when you thought the action in Budokai Tenkaichi 3–or the previous games–wasn’t enough, be prepared for yet another Dragonball Z game that is in the works for the Playstation 3 and Xbox360!
Watching this trailer, I thought it was a sequel to the ill-fated “Sagas” RPG released for the PS2, Gamecube and Xbox. It’s better than that, and it’s on two next-gen consoles! The graphics are amazing, and the gameplay looks better than the Budokai/Tenkaichi games. The music in the trailer could revive the series, but that’s just a dream. Ah, Hironobu Kageyama…How I amaze thee.
The summer has come to an end. School is back in session, new and returning TV shows are on the air, and Thanksgiving is just around the corner. What does this mean? Christmas is not too far away! With only three months remaining in 2007, let’s take a look back at the hottest video game trailers that E3, Blizzcon and the Tokyo Game Show showcased this past summer.
Starcraft 2 (PC)
The biggest announcement at the Blizzard World-Wide Invitational event in Seoul, South Korea, is the second installment of the decade old, yet still going strong, Starcraft series. The Protoss, Terran, and the infamous Zerg races return. With the prospect of new customization features catered towards tournament environments, Starcraft 2 is sure to kickoff the Progaming circuit further in the 21st century.
Metal Gear Solid 4 (Playstation 3)
The fourth installment in the Metal Gear Solid series. This time, the story takes place in the Middle East, where our heroine, Solid Snake, takes down yet another, world threatening, mecha monster. We also see appearances of characters in the previous Metal Gear Solid games, including Otakon, Colonel Roy Campbell, Meryl Campbell and Raiden.
World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King (PC/MAC)
The next expansion pack in the World of Warcraft series was announced at Blizzcon 2007 back in August. We will many new features, such as a new map to explore: Northrend. Death Knight: the first new class since the release of WoW, the level cap will be raised to 80, plus the ability to change your toons’ hairstyle, and new battlegrounds. Many players are in doubt to whether the new expansion pack will add excitement or catastrophe to the franchise, as newer players have yet to explore Karazhan or obtain Arena gear.
The third (or sixth) installment to the Dragonball Z Playstation 2 series is better than ever, with an expanded character roster, including new characters never before played in the previous DBZ games. Bonus features can be obtained by swapping DVDs of previous Budokai Tenkaichi games (PS2 Version only), and you can battle against the world strongest fighters online (Wii version only). As a longtime Dragonball Z fan, this is a must have for my collection..and if I had a Nintendo Wii, I would get also get that version.
Notable Mentions
There are so many awesome trailers, I can’t mention them all! Some of these trailers mentioned are from last year, but is slated for release by the end of this year, if not later.
