Metal Gear Solid 4–with Girls?

I KNEW IT! Raiden IS a girl!

I KNEW IT! Raiden IS a girl!

A figurine set featuring Metal Gear Solid 4 characters…as girls? Yup. The set shows our beloved MGS4 characters: Solid (Old) Snake, Liquid Snake, Raiden (insert joke here), and Otacon in Lolita–or Lolicon–form. I’m not much into action figures (mostly the Gashapon stuff), but I’m would like to have these! Yeah…the Lolita fad is for guys (not to mention that it borders on something illegal), but as a girl, they look kind of かわいい! Honestly though, I’d rather buy the Mcfarlane figures.

Summary: Metal Gear Solid 4 is the final installment for the legendary hero, Solid Snake. Two years since the preview trailer at E3 2006, the long waited game in the franchise is finally here. This post is my review of the biggest game of the year. While many popular gaming websites have their own reviews already, of course, possibly chock full of spoilers, I’ll try to keep my review with minimum spoilers.

Just a Day Away: — aka “The Infiltration Continues”

2008-06-11_00001 Just a Day Away: -- aka The Infiltration Continues

This is it! It’s less than 24 hours away until the release of the most anticipated game of 2008 hits US store shelves. The release is already under way in other parts of the world. As I predicted, many stores will be getting a midnight release, but only in popular areas. A Best Buy store in West Hollywood is having a very special release party, with autograph signings featuring Solid Snake’s US VA, David Hayter. No fair, California!

Sadly for me, I won’t be able to get my hands on Metal Gear Solid 4 until the end of the month. It’s no problem. These few months of dodging potential spoilers has been a breeze, and went by sooner than expected! I am going to do the same thing after release day, but this time… I might as well just keep my eyes shut until the end of June. If you’re like me (keeping eyes away from spoiler warnings left and right), and can’t get Guns of the Patriots right away — stay the heck away from GameFAQs’ MGS4 Board! Actually…stay away from MGS fanboys. Period. So far, I’ve found out a partial reason why Snake is aging…It appears to be a Botox injection gone horribly wrong (Not a spoiler, but hoped that this averted attention away from the real reason). I vaguely remember a couple of parts that happened in the first trailer that was shown at E3 a couple of years ago, but I’d rather keep that a distant memory for the next two weeks…

If anything…Solid Snake’s back, and despite his “new look”, he’s better than ever!

My First Article (aka Guest Post) on VGPro.com

2008-05-17_00001 My First Article (aka Guest Post) on VGPro.com

I have been offered an opportunity to contribute my posts on a Indie Gaming Journal website, VGPro. I must say that the experience is going very well. My first original article I provided to the community are my thoughts on the upcoming release of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, and the media’s reaction to the controversial Grand Theft Auto IV launch last month.

I had a great idea for my first post of what it would be like if Metal Gear Solid 4 would get a midnight release party, and how the media would react to it; will the press flag it as another Grand Theft Auto IV, or will it chance the face of gaming in America? The release is less than a month away, and many blogs are covering the last minute changes that are being added to the game.

$24.48 Well Spent

MPO and McD\'s: An unlikely couple...

I finally got my copy of Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops that I ordered from Amazon.com in the mail Monday, and along with the game, there was a coupon for one free Southern-style Chicken Sandwich (and a Southern-style Chicken biscuit for early birds) from McDonald’s. This was a good buy, especially since I went through all the trouble finding it at GameStop last weekend. The total of the order was $24.48; $19.99 for MPO and the rest in S&H. I wonder what I could have gotten if I chose the 2-day shipping.

Honestly, this was the best deal I have ever gotten. I’ve been having a hard time looking for what I’m looking for since the year began. I would either have to order them online, or just put it off until later, and hope that it will still be around until then. A few months ago, I had a Best Buy coupon with 10% off that I took with in with me so I can get a small discount on Death Note, Vol. 2, along with the limited edition figurine. When I went to the checkout, I could not find the coupon. Disappointed, I had to pay the normal price: $40. Luckily, when Vol. 3 came out, I only had to pay $20!

As for Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops, I’m lovin’ it! (Pun sort of intended). This will keep me occupied until Metal Gear Solid 4, and learn more about the Metal Gear universe. And for the Chicken sandwich, I have yet to try it, but I will soon. Personally, the only sandwich I prefer is the Big Mac.
