Want to Watch (Legal) Anime on the PS3? Now You Can!

Thursday, July 17th, 2008 | Entertainment with No Comments »

2008-07-17_00003-150x150 Want to Watch (Legal) Anime on the PS3? Now You Can! At the E3 Gaming Expo in Los Angeles, Sony announced plans to launch a video download service featuring TV shows and movies for a fee. Not just popular (boring) shows and movies, but our favorite anime as well! FUNimation is the first and current only anime distributor on the new Playstation Network Video Store (launched today). Series include Desert Punk, Gunslinger Girl, Kiddy Grade, MoonPhase, and the first seasons of Afro Samurai, Burst Angel, Basilisk, Trinity Blood, and Samurai 7. The price to download individual episodes are $2.99 (SD versions).

Animation Studio BONES’ latest anime project, Xam’d: Lost Memories is also available on the store for $3.99 (HD Only). A trailer for Xam’d is available free of charge. Owners who are looking into checking out the new selection in other parts of the world are out of luck as the service is region locked.

The Newest PS3 Owner on the Block

Saturday, June 28th, 2008 | Ramblings with 3 Comments

2008-06-27_174332-433x324 The Newest PS3 Owner on the Block

Yes! You’re looking at the latest owner of a Playstation 3–along with a Dual Shock 3, and a copy of Metal Gear Solid 4! Unfortunately, this came out of my weekly allowance; saving up for Anime Weekend Atlanta and my everyday Otaku needs, and with help from my mother and my brother (he wants to play it more than I do!).

2008-06-28_005512-433x324 The Newest PS3 Owner on the Block

I have yet to play Metal Gear Solid 4, but I tried out the very core of the PS3. Not Folding@home, but the system its self; downloadable content, sharing media via LAN, and slapping on a MGS 4 theme on the XMB. I also tried out the demo version of Dragonball Z: Burst Limit. I have a wishlist with a few games I want from the Playstation store, preferably the PSOne titles and Mortal Kombat II. The bundle also comes with a voucher for a free copy of the game, Pain. I’ll eventually play this game. The game reminds me a bit of State of Emergency. But first things first…It’s time to equip my active camo!

MGS4 Boxart Revealed

Monday, April 14th, 2008 | Games with No Comments »

2401727275_1494dd5c2f-337x390 MGS4 Boxart Revealed Sony finally revealed the final boxart of the next (and probably last) installed in the Metal Gear Solid franchise. It shows a very [realistic] Solid Snake, now known as “Old Snake”, ready for action! There’s another box shot for those who are grabbing the Limited Edition version of MGS4. Personally, I prefer the Regular Edition box. There is also a bundle available for pre-order for those who have yet to get a PS3 (like me). The bundle comes equipped with the 80 GB model that Sony discontinued in 2007. The price of the bundle is unknown, at least from my sources, but expected the shell out at least $600 for the most anticipated game of 2008!
