3 Quick Cosplay Ideas

We’re in the middle of convention season. I have thought up a good, inexpensive way to express your love for anime! If you’re attending a convention for the first time, or you’re a long time convention goer with no time remaining for that Cloud costume, you should check out my top 3 choices for last minute cosplaying!

  1. A Random Citizen of Konohagakure (Naruto)
  2. This means you could go as a random person from Naruto without spending time messing around with a sewing machine or spending hours on eBay searching for ready made Jounin vests (The one like Kakashi wears) from Hong Kong. Just wear your regular clothes! Buy a Konohagakure (Leaf Village) handband from Hot Topic or online from Amazon.com (They are sold for approximately $20) and wear it to any convention you attend!

  3. L (Death Note)
  4. I’m not alone on this suggestion. Many anime bloggers have talked about this ideal of dressing up as L. Since reading/watching Death Note, L became my favorite character. I have been taking this into consideration.

All you need to do to dress as L is find a loose white sweater, a pair of pants that are a little loose around the legs, mess up your hair a little, paint dark lines under your eyes with makeup, and find a nice, flat notebook-size piece of cardboard. Paint it black and write the words “Death Note” on either side of it. Now it’s time to investigate the recent glompings of other cosplayers!

  5. An Animal from Excel Saga or Fruits Basket

If you have been to Waldenbooks, Suncoast or your local comic book store with a decent collection of manga or anime DVDs, you will find hats with the eyes of a cat, pig, or dog on the front, along with ears. Some are from the Series “Fruits Basket” and “Excel Saga.” There are also third party companies, or fan-owned Cosplay stores, making these hats of cats eyes or other animals.

However, you might as well just look for a Naruto handband. Because the costs of these hats range from $25-$30. Kind of high for a hat, but if you’re a huge fan of anime animals, this is for you. Happy cosplaying!
