Worst. Server. Ever. – Part I: Ragnarok Online

This entry is part 1 of 3 in the series Worst. Server. Ever

I was searching around for horror stories of players having bad experience on realms/world/servers of a MMORPG to alleviate the my difficulty of getting around with griefing Alliance and lazy Horde players on my old server. After moving to another realm in the World of Warcraft, I love it here. There’s not a lot of Alliance players, compared to the old server I used to play on, and many Horde players are willing to help whenever a player gets ganked. I don’t mind getting attacked once in a while, but it was way too much to handle, even to level up.

Worst. Server. Ever. is a three-part series not only about World of Warcraft’s realms I played on, it’s also about servers I used to call home during my days as a Ragnarok Online and Final Fantasy XI player. They range from the inhabitants, to the whole realm. I have always been nice to people. However, it seems that I get ignored whenever I help someone out. I have never yelled at anyone for messing up. I never break the rules of the game. I could be the most popular player on the server, if it weren’t for those pesky elitists.

Part One begins with Ragnarok Online. I had alot of great memories playing this game. Though I could have played it longer if Gravity implemented Character Transfers earlier…

Realm: Chaos

I selected the Chaos realm because it was at the top of the list. Plus, the name stuck to me than Loki–the server I wished I chose. Chaos was bad from the beginning. There were very few awesome players on the server, including my (in-game) ex-husband.

Unfortunate Events

1) When I was looking for Poporings to level up on, a Blacksmith steals it away from me just as I touch it. I follow him to get my Poporing back–until he tells me to stop…

2) When a player didn’t pick up an item from the ground, he blames me for looting. If he didn’t pick up the item right away, and being a few feet away from it, could have meant he didn’t want it–or he was a bot. Personally, thanks to Ragnarok’s weak looting system at the time, I always loot the item before moving on to the next mob. If he was that concerned about it, he could have done the same.

3) A Swordsman left me a message saying I didn’t look like I was away from keyboard… It’s probably because I passed right by him before I went AFK. I really did go AFK. That was unnecessary of him to say such things. Now that I think about this, I think all Swordsmen are terrible players, especially to Acolytes/Priests. There were a few nice Swordsmen, but I guess Chaos was a bad server for this class.

Worst Case Scenario: I found Payon to be the worst place to visit, unless you want to be an Archer/Hunter, on the server. I would run into players who have seemed to woke up on the wrong side of the bed. Whenever I go into the cave in the back of the town, someone would accuse me of being a bot:

Player A: Are you a bot
Sanjo-chan: No…

Come to think of it, I never had a good experience in Payon, except for when I would hang out with people I knew: a guild.

The Verdict: Chaos was a horrible server. The number of bad players out numbered the good ones. All the good players I knew quit, while the bad players roamed about. I really wish I played on Loki–or Iris after it was implemented into iRO. I did make some great friends on Chaos, I just wish I didn’t run into meanies. :(
